Tench (Tinca tinca)

 

     Tench is a lesser moving fish, with benthonic habitus. Prefer stagnant waters, with earthen bottom and do not enter in running waters.
     Tench feed with living and deadly plants and different mollusks, insects, crustaceans, worms. Also eat mud with organic drafts.
     Breeding occurs later than other cyprinids except crucian, at water temperature of 22 - 25 0C. A female spawn up to 300.000 yellowish eggs, which are cling on vegetation. The egg diameter is 1.0 - 1.2 mm. Hatching time is 3 - 7 days on water temperature of 22 - 24 0C. Sexual maturity achieve at the age of 3 - 4 years.
